Environmental simulation refers to the targeted recreation of real-world environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, vibration, or corrosion in a laboratory. It is used to test products for durability, safety, and functionality under defined conditions.
The most important test methods include temperature and climate tests, thermal shock tests, corrosion tests, weathering tests, as well as HALT and HASS tests. These enable a comprehensive evaluation of material and product behavior under various environmental conditions.
Typical standards include IEC 60068, LV124, VW80000, MIL-STD-810, ISO 16750, DIN EN ISO 9227, and other industry-specific standards. They define test conditions and ensure that test results are reproducible and internationally comparable.
In climatic testing, temperature and humidity are controlled and kept constant or cyclically varied over an extended period. Temperature shock tests, on the other hand, simulate very rapid temperature changes to reveal material stresses and weaknesses.
Environmental simulation is used in many industries, including the automotive industry, aerospace, electronics, medical technology, and research and development. Such tests are indispensable wherever products must withstand extreme conditions.
Custom solutions precisely tailor testing technology to products, standards, and processes. This enables realistic testing that yields reliable results and makes development and testing processes more efficient.
Yes, many systems can be tested in advance in our showroom or used as a rental solution. This allows for flexible use and reduces investment risks.
The selection depends on test requirements, standards, component size, and desired stress conditions. Expert consultation helps identify the optimal combination of technology, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
In environmental simulation, real-world conditions such as temperature, humidity, vibration, or light are replicated under controlled conditions in the laboratory. Test systems generate defined scenarios to test how products behave under real-world operating conditions.
HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Test) is used to identify weaknesses during the development phase, while HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screening) is used for quality testing in production.
Environmental simulation allows weaknesses to be identified early on. This reduces failures during later use, increases product safety, and saves on development and follow-up costs.
Depending on the system, the following conditions, among others, can be simulated:
Depending on the system, modern environmental simulation chambers can accommodate temperature ranges from approximately −70 °C to over +180 °C. Specialized applications can cover even wider ranges.
Due to the wide temperature range and high climatic requirements, we use the psychrometric measurement system with Type T thermocouples as standard in all our devices. This system guarantees the highest accuracy without potential drifts or necessary adjustments, as is the case with capacitive systems. For certain tests, we offer capacitive sensors as an option.
We provide comprehensive consulting—covering technical, economic, and delivery aspects—and show you the right solution, including test or rental options.
